As 2017 comes to a close, I want to take this opportunity to thank our family, friends, and customers for an amazing year. As a founder and entrepreneur, I want to take the new year as another opportunity to reflect, revise, and improve as both a CEO and a person. To that end, we’ll review our team’s progress in 2017 and provide a quick outlook for 2018.
Looking back at 2017
Not everything went quite according to plan
As many businesses, we started off this year with a plan. We’d launch a beta in January, followed quickly by an official launch in March. And yet, as many businesses, our plans changed significantly throughout the year. Our beta received a lot more feedback than we anticipated, and, while it was all helpful, it delayed our launch. Combined with our acceptance to Techstars, we didn’t launch until August. For us, the delay meant that we lost valuable customers and a few months of product development. It’s not all bad, as we’ve built a better product from it, but such is life.
But it still made for an incredible year
Overall, I can’t complain. In one year our team: launched apps for iOS and Android, macOS and Windows, built our first integrations, opened our API for developers, and developed an industry leading call routing engine. We grew from handling a few dozen calls per week to thousands of calls every day, and we did it while building customer relationships we’re proud of. Here at Parakeet, our mission is to build the industry leading communications platform to connect businesses with their customers efficiently and effectively, and 2017 was a huge step in that direction.
Looking forward to 2018
To that end, we’re thrilled about our prospects for 2018. We’ll be rolling out our beta platform, and growing the team. These changes mean that we can handle more customers, and release more features. Over the next year, you’ll see new integrations and platforms, a plethora of product features, an expanded API, and much more.
Above all else, however, our primary organizational goal for 2018 is to be more transparent. From our support team to our product roadmap, we want to be on the same page as our customers. The more closely aligned we are with your needs, the better we can serve you. So, keep an eye out for a new helpdesk, new support channels, and a public roadmap as we head into the near year.
To all of our readers: thank you for being a part of our journey. I’m happy to be able to share our year’s summary with you, and hope you’ll share your stories with us as well. We’re happy to have you as part of the Parakeet family, and look forward to continuing to serve you.
